Fitness Programs

Donaldson Run is ready, once again, to help you stay (or get!) fit with our summer fitness programs. We have three proven fitness programs from which to choose.

Early Bird Aqua Fitness

Class begins Wednesday, May 29- Sept 6th

Start your summer mornings with our sunrise early bird aqua fitness class taught in our heated pool.  Burn twice the calories of walking while protecting your joints. Participants incorporate strength training and cardio using water weights, and other tools to enhance the natural resistance of the water and to improve core stability, balance, and stamina.  Swimming skills not required.  Some Pilates and yoga will be used for stretching and balance, flexibility and strength. Exercises are modified for your particular abilities. All fitness levels are welcome to join the class!  Handicapped parking available at the back gate.

Our instructor, Julia Dragun is certified by the Aquatics Exercise Association for shallow and deep water training and is an aquatic personal trainer with 25 years of experience in aqua fitness classes. See you in the pool!

Members pay only $125 for a full season pass. A non-member season pass is $150. If you prefer, you may pay-as-you go for only $7.00 a class. You can even bring a non-member friend for only $8.00 a class.

Mid Day Water Aerobics

Class begins June 24

This fun-filled water aerobics class uses a lot of the pool! We jump, splash and move all around the shallow end. We tone the legs with leg exercises around the perimeter of the pool. Later in the class, we use Styrofoam weights and do some deep water jogging and other moves in the deep end. Don’t worry if you don’t like to go into deep water. Some of our participants stay where they can plant their feet on the ground. We finish back in the shallow end, using those same weights to tone arms and the upper body and complete the hour with sit ups on the pool deck (optional). Bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat or visor and get ready to have fun.

Our long-time instructor is Hope Powers.

This class begins on June 24 at 11:00 am. Classes will take place every day of the week except Fridays. Members pay only $40 for a book of 6 class tickets. Or, if you prefer to pay-as-you-go, the cost is $7 a class for members or $8.00 a class for non-member guests. All mid-day water aerobic tickets can be purchased directly from the instructor.

DRRA Amphibious Boot Camp

Tuesdays and Thursdays
May 28 to Sept 12

Want a great workout—try aquatic fitness!

This program combines swimming and dryland exercises into a challenging, but fun workout.  Participants meet at Donaldson Run pool every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-6:30 am in Lanes 4-6. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday, the group trains at Washington & Lee High School track from 6:00-7:00 am.
